My Big Boy

Well, I think we are about ready for Logan's big birthday bash tomorrow! We're going to a pizza place here in town and all of our nearest and dearest will be there with us. I got candy and filler prizes for the goodie bags and Ralph is going to go get Log's present tomorrow. (a new bike!) I can't believe he's going to be, *sigh*, DOUBLE DIGITS!!! Yep, he's going to be a "ten-ager", as we have been teasing him. Right now his dad and dad's friend have him believing that we weren't really going to have a birthday party at all. That is was some clever April Fool's ruse, but it's not and hopefully they haven't traumatized my baby too much! Well, that's it for the McCorkle house! That and lots of school and work going on! *yawn!* Night-night!

Zippity-Doo-Da!

So, the incredible, wonderful, awesome, fantastical people who comprised the Easter 2008 cast and crew chipped in and gave me $172 Disney dollars!!! Cool - right? I mean, WOW! I'm so excited, as I am a HUGE Disneyland fan and am looking forward to getting a new pass for the year. I think I'll go for the Premium, that way I can really go when EVER I want! My husband says that we really get duped into thinking we're saving money on passes, when we go so much, they end up with lots of our money in their pockets anyway. My answer to that is I will earn it back! I hope to work there some day, even if I just sweep up trash after careless guests, that is my DREAM job! *sigh!* LOL No, actually, my dream job would be to work on the new attractions as an Imagineer, but I've got to get this pesky schooling completed first. Speaking of which, I should be doing homework, so I bid you adieu! And farewell! For now, anyway!

Insanity Defined

Well, the set is down and the church cleaned up (for the most part!), so we're about back to normal. It looks bare, as it does every year when we take down all the Easter stuff. Hundreds of feet of scaffolding and plywood, all decorated with various facades really do grow on the eye and brain! Anyway, I guess it have a more "clean" look to it, so it's all fine and dandy. It'll be a shock to those church members who didn't make it out today in the morning to see the transformation! So, now we've got a cast and crew party tomorrow night after service. I got Pizza Hut to sell us 18 Large pizzas for $8 apiece, which I think Shegazelle would be proud to hear! hehe... We'll have salad and yummy homemade desserts. Plus, I'm very STOKED about the gifts I got for the team that helped me and I really hope they like them! It'll be fun and when that's done, stick a fork in me, 'cuz I'll be DONE! =D Yay! I'll be the one with a huge SMILE pasted on! Woo-HOO!!

Ever a Memorial

I miss Grandma McCorkle. For some reason, it really hit me hard this past weekend that she is really gone. I feel like I took her for granted, making us Easter dinner, watching Logan when we were very busy, and just doing all the wonderful things she did. I don't nearly miss any of those things like her prayers. Just knowing there was a true woman of God praying for us just made things a little easier. Oh, the battles she helped fight on her knees!!

During the Easter hoopla, Pastor Wilmoth had assigned certain prayer warriors in our church to be prayer partners with all of the main drama characters and the team. Come to find out, my prayer partner was Sis. Barrington, who was one of Grandma's dearest friends. When she came and put her arm around me just before our first Easter service, I sobbed. I'm crying now, just writing about it! I just missed Grandma so very much, all the while being comforted by this dear elder and pillar of our church. Even though Grandma has gone on to be with the Lord, I just felt encouraged by her through her friend. I think she'll still pray for me, even though drama is over. Comforting, sweet peace...

Bag that Bunny

Well, things are getting back on track with school. I felt a little less sheepish when I stepped through my classroom doors today. I still have a HUGE Geology test to make up and I need to speak with my Spanish teacher about how to keep my grade from bottoming out. Anyway, that's boring stuff (until I'm making loads of cash as a Disney Imagineer... LOL!), and there are still a few pressing issues in my life due to the wonder of Easter. We have to tear down the entire set on Saturday and have the church back to normal for Sunday morning. Yeah... Right... And there's the small matter of coordinating a cast and crew party for after church Sunday evening and purchasing nice gifts for everyone who helped. (with a little bit of money, I might add...!) hehehe... It'll be a busy weekend, but I'm glad school is done for the week and I'll focus my attentions on officially getting Easter wrapped up. I must be really boring y'all out there, or nobody is reading, because NO comments for ME! waaahhhh!! Ha! Be cool, people, be cool.

Don't call me...I'll call you...

Well, that's all she wrote. Or he wrote. Or anybody wrote. We wrote and re-wrote and when it came down to brass tacks, it was God who made up the difference. Our Easter drama run is over and what a time we had! It was very rewarding to be able to pray with my brother-in-law's girlfriend in the altar and to see my friend from school there as well. The team did such a great job of getting this thing together and the cast really did outstanding! I'm glad it's over. At this point, I can't say that I would like to do it again. We will see what the future holds, but for now, I am finished.

Nice Try

In the middle of the Easter hubbub, I had a Spanish test. *sigh!* There goes my GPA...! My professors don't know or care how much this drama has consumed my time, or else they may give me an "A" for effort! HA! Just a few more weary days and then...

To Believe or Not To Believe...THAT is the question!

Well, I am here again, but only to update on the progress of our Easter drama ever so briefly. Or maybe not so briefly. Anyway, we are doing "The Centurion" as I said before, but my Pastor re-wrote the ending. It's phenomenal, to be perfectly honest. The ending we had was lacking a smooth transition to an altar call, which is always the goal when we have hundreds of new people in the pew Easter weekend. So, my husband and Pastor brainstormed for nearly three hours yesterday, dissecting the last couple of scenes and finally came to an astounding conclusion - the centurion and his counterpart Marcus represent the mind and the heart, belief and disbelief, faith and doubt. Also, Ralph had the revelation that their superior officer in the drama, the Tribune, is actually representative of the devil. The last couple of scenes have been re-written to play up these new revelations and are really going to make it powerful. I can't wait to see what God is going to do through these wonderful people in my church that are working so hard to see that this thing happens! Hope you can come!

Dramatizing

Yep, we are in full-swing drama mode right now. We've got 7 likos lamps, 1 par can, tons of scaffold and foam board, amongst other things all set up. Now we've got to finish beautifying Pilate's court, Caiaphas' court, and the "olive garden". Some strategically placed greenery - LOTS of it! - should do the trick. A dull ache has set in my upper neck/back area and I think I may be headed to the sick shop if I don't slow down a bit. I'm NOT going to claim it! No! The next couple of days are filled with sound checks, light checks, meetings, and dress rehearsals, so don't call ME I'll call YOU! =D Happy days, everyone! Happy days...

Chew on This

"It is said an Eastern monarch once charged his wise men to invent him a sentence to be ever in view, and which should be true and appropriate in all times and situations. They presented him the words: "And this, too, shall pass away."

Promotable Notable

My husband got a promotion at work, which is, I'm sure, a direct result of his relationship with Him. He is going to be the BEST Senior Project Manager EVER! I'm so happy for his success and can't wait for him to show them how it's done! =D Thank you, Jesus, for once again blessing us in spite of our unworthiness!

Tech Week

Tomorrow we start our "Tech Week" of practice, which will be a lot of cue-to-cue work and, as the name indicates, TECHNICAL. *sigh!* I am excited to be able to see this whole thing come together, as the team that has unified under the banner of drama is working feverishly on their assigned projects to see it through to fruition. This week, we will have no less than 80 people at practice on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. We all have such a great time bonding over snafus and touching moments as well. Let the GOOD TIMES roll!!! Once again, if you're in our area, you don't want to miss this presentation of "The Centurion"! Check the previously mentioned website for more info...

It's been four years since Dad passed, and I miss him so much still.

Here Today, Gone Tomorrow

Well, I had to add another blog with what's been going on for all my FANS out there! (Shout out to Von de Leigh, Karla, and Sarah!!!) LOL

We just arrived home (literally) from No Limits. We had a nice flight, except for the little bit of turbulence right there at the end that made me nervous. I know, I know... "...be careful for nothing..." I'm really trying hard not to be worried. In general. But I don't have the time to write about that right now.

Which leads me to my next subject. Easter. Yes, it's drama. TONS of DRAMA!!!! hehehe... Actually, I do love doing it, in spite of all the STUFF that accompanies such a daunting task. We have another large cast this year (40 in the crowd!! yay!!!) and lots of crew as well. We're doing "The Centurion", but Pastor is wanting to re-write the ending, so we'll see how that all turns out. Good, I'm sure! The set is just about complete and I'll try to get some pictures on here asap. Hopefully, if you're in my area, you'll be able to come check it out Easter weekend! Go to www.hopecenteronline.com for the times and dates.

Also, just started a new job a couple of weeks ago and am still going to college full-time. I'm majoring in Computer Science, but I think everyone knows that already. I'm working in the computer lab at my school as a Lab Tech and it feels weird that people ask me to help them with their computer stuff. Really puts my limited knowledge and experience on display! LOL I'm trying though!

Logan is still home schooling and almost done with this school year, which took us WAY TOO LONG!!! grrrr... Oh, well... We're plugging along though.

Hmmm... I think that's it, for now. Oh, yeah! I HAVE to tell you all this funny story Karla told me... But I may refrain. For now, at least... =D
